🌎 60+ Climate Deep Tech Investors to Know

From the solo GP's to the Generalists - here's who's writing the checks

What is Climate Deep Tech?

You’ve definitely seen the terms “Deep Tech” and “Climate Tech” across the news, in funding announcements, across VC thought pieces, but what happens when the two terms are merged?

Climate Deep Tech is what we’ve been using to define the audience we’re bringing together at the HackSummit in New York but understandably still a phrase of confusion given it’s only recently started gaining popularity.

While the topics of the event and early speakers should hopefully give you an idea of exactly which sub sectors we’ll focus on, the purpose of this email is to give a higher level overview of what we mean when we say “Climate Deep Tech”.

What better way to do that than by asking some of the leading VC’s in this space (many of who will be attending in-person in December) for their own definitions of this relatively novel term.

Scroll on for their answers. Plus discover a list of 60+ Climate Deep Tech investors we pulled together, just for you.

What is Climate Deep Tech?

Ask ChatGPT and the answer you’ll get is some version of the following:

“Climate Deep Tech refers to advanced, innovative technological solutions aimed at addressing climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, enhancing energy efficiency, and promoting sustainable resource use.

These solutions involve cutting-edge research in fields like biotechnology, AI, and advanced materials, and are designed for scalability and substantial global impact.”

While this is a certainly common ground we can all agree on - there are nuances and interpretations depending on who you’re speaking with.

So, we spoke to some of the leading Climate Deep Tech investors at EQT Ventures, Tomorrow, Nucleus Capital, Giant Ventures, Siddhi Capital, Beanstalk Venture Studio and Planet A Ventures to get their take.

The 60+ Climate Deep Tech Investors to Know

Importantly, not every Climate VC is investing in Deep Tech, which can come with more risk than some investors are comfortable allocating to.

For founders, being able to quickly navigate through who is and isn’t actively deploying into Climate Deep Tech can mean time and energy saved when fundraising.

So, we pulled together this list of the 60+ investors to get to know who are actively deploying into this space and have funds raised ready to back the next climate tech moonshots.

The list spans across funds between $20M to $20B and includes the generalists with dedicated Climate Deep Tech investors all the way down to the solo GPs with funds exclusively raised for Climate Deep Tech.

Inside the mind of a Climate Deep Tech VC

Collab Fund is an early stage venture capital firm investing at the intersection of for-profit and for-good. Having recently closed 2 funds with $125M (Collab V) and $225M (Collab SOS) Collab Fund have been actively deploying into early-stage Climate Tech solutions globally.

Before he joins us as a speaker at the HackSummit in New York, we caught up with Collab Fund Partner, Guy Vidra to hear how they apply the ‘Villain Test’ to potential investment opportunities, why they’re betting big on Climate Deep Tech and which sectors they’re looking to invest in next.

Meet with 600+ other Climate Deep Tech Attendees
