⛽️ 90 Green Aviation Disruptors to Know
Producing eFuels, biofuels and alternatives from CO2, crops, algae, electrolysis and renewable feedstocks
Just under a year ago Virgin Atlantic made headlines when it flew the world's first 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Flight from London Heathrow to New York JFK.
Proving SAF as a safe drop-in replacement for fossil-derived jet fuel. And crucially a mid-term viable solution for decarbonizing long haul aviation.
Since then alternative fuels have been picking up pace to offer viable options for hard-to-bate industries that rely so heavily on fossil fuels.
In the last 2 weeks alone:
Swiss transportation company SGV signed a 5-year fuel offtake agreement with solar fuel company Synhelion to power its fleet.
Formula 1 invested in DHL's GoGreen Plus service utilizing SAF to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in air freight.
NYC-based Air Company closed $69M Series B to commercialize its CCU Technology and Sustainable Aviation Fuels.
But progress to upend entire industries can often prove to be an uphill battle.
As companies are hampered by financing options, meeting supply and demand, overcoming supply chain challenges and inter/national regulations to name a few.
That’s why we’ll be joined by Air Company’s Co-Founder and CTO, Staff Sheehan at the HackSummit in his hometown, New York, where he’ll tell his journey on what it’s going to take to scale and commercialize new ways of manufacturing.
Tip: If you’re planning to meet us at the HackSummit too, get your pass today - prices go up next week.

🛩️ 66 Future Fuel Companies
Using algae, non-food crops, biomass, electrochemistry, CO2, hydrogen, sun and waste, companies are finding new ways to accelerate the creation of tomorrow’s fuels.
To better understand the landscape, we’ve mapped the landscape of early-adopters-turned-high flyers as well as new and emerging early-stage startups in the graphic above.
And yes, we’re just scratching the surface. There are many more fuels and feedstocks in the mix. Check out the full list of 90 names from around the world here, on a shared mission to decarbonize fuel.
💨 CCU x Sustainable Aviation
Gregory Constantine and Dr. Stafford Sheehan founded Air Company to rethink and rework solutions that tackle the climate crisis through science and technology.
They first made headlines with the world's first carbon-negative spirit; with perfume, fragrances and sanitizer from captured carbon launched in hot pursuit.
Next up, their boldest challenge to date. Jet fuel from CO2. And they’ve just raised $69 Million Series B funding to scale this with a commercial production plant.
And now Staff will be a headline speaker at the HackSummit as he shares their scale up plans to help the industry take off with ‘green’ fuel.
🔌 At the Forefront of Sustainable Fuel
Having raised $600 million between them, we take a closer look at the technologies and unfair advantages of 10 rising sustainable fuel startups and scale ups.
Solutions include converting methane, CO2, sewage and biomass waste into fuels of the future using synthetic biology, Direct Air Capture and solvothermal liquefaction.
Check out 10 case studies on high-flying companies: Air Company, Carbon Engineering, Cemvita, FireFly Green Fuels, Kvasir Technologies, Metafuels, OXCCU, SkyNRG, Synhelion and Twelve.
🥁 3 New Speakers Join the Lineup
The HackSummit speaker lineup is quickly growing to include some of the brightest minds and renowned talents from across Climate Deep Tech.
These 3 latest additions all share a vision for the commercialization and scale up of FOAK technologies. Now they’re primed to join us on stage to go deeper into their journey so far and what’s in store for 2025 and beyond.
Clay Dumas, General Partner, Lowercarbon Capital
