Why 6 Swiss ClimateTech Changemakers are Heading to the US

Meet pragmatic, science-driven and entrepreneurial Swiss talents at HackSummit New York

Together with

Swiss ingenuity is no longer a local story, it’s becoming a blueprint for solving the planet’s toughest problems.

Switzerland is more than a hub for innovation, it is a catalyst for climate solutions with global reach,” notes Patrizia Bischof of Presence Switzerland, stemming from a unique blend of scientific excellence, engineering precision and a pragmatic culture that embraces responsibility alongside entrepreneurship.

Moving ideas rapidly from research to real-world application, the country’s research institutions, investors and policymakers work hand in hand,” Patrizia explains, allowing new technologies to progress quickly from lab to market.

Breakthrough ideas born in Swiss labs don’t stay on the shelves,” she says. They are quickly tested, funded, and pushed to market through strong public–private partnerships. Investors, corporates and universities collaborate rather than compete, creating a fast track from prototype to global scale.

And to showcase the pragmatic, science-driven and entrepreneurial talents being built in Switzerland, we’ll be joined at the HackSummit by 6 Swiss-born Startups and their teams looking for funding, collaboration and growth opportunities at the HackSummit.

Open Opportunities to Grow and Scale

Scaling Beyond R&D Pilot Scale

Plastogaz are seeking collaborators to accelerate the industrial deployment of our hydrocracking technology beyond R&D pilot scale. This includes investors, technology partners, and petrochemical companies to integrate our recycled naphtha into existing operations, as well as research and sustainability partners who can provide expertise, infrastructure, and market access to advance circular plastic recycling at scale,” explains Domenika Laufer of Plastogaz.

Collaborate. Deploy. Scale.

“At HackSummit, we’re seeking partnerships with the U.S.-based real estate developers, EPC firms, and heat pump providers. These collaborations will accelerate deployment and market integration, while also supporting the creation of local installation and distribution networks to drive impact and growth across North America,” notes Diane Marquette of Enerdrape.

From Pilot to Market

“We’re seeking partners in industrial equipment, energy infrastructure, and hydrogen fuel-cell systems to co-deploy our APG units. Collaborations around manufacturing, distribution, and ammonia logistics are key to scaling. We’re also open to strategic investors and pilot hosts in the US who share our vision for clean, decentralized energy,” says Aris Maroonian of Neology

Meet the Swiss Startups Heading to New York

💨 Divea - Capturing CO2 at the Source

Divea captures CO2 from industrial emissions using graphene membranes.

With a thickness of just 1 atom, their membranes can lead to record breaking performances. After synthesizing graphene, they make tiny holes about the size of the CO2 molecule. These holes work like a sieve and only let CO2 to go through which enable us to separate it from other molecules. Finally, they roll these porous graphene membrane and integrate them into a mechanical module that will be later installed at the industrial site.

♨️ Enerdrape - Untouched Underground Energy

Enerdrape® developed the world’s first non-invasive geothermal panel that transforms underground environments—like parking garages and tunnels—into sources of renewable heating and cooling. Unlike conventional geothermal systems, our solution requires no drilling, is fast to install, and enables clean energy retrofits in dense urban areas previously considered inaccessible.

What makes heading to the US the right next step?

The U.S. presents massive retrofit potential, especially in dense cities with extensive underground infrastructure and strong incentives for energy decarbonization. With growing interest in scalable, drill-free solutions for buildings, Enerdrape can fill a key gap in the American market—bringing European innovation to a space that urgently needs practical implementation.

⚡️Neology - Power from Ammonia

Neology’s Ammonia Power Generator (APG) converts ammonia into hydrogen and electricity on-site, eliminating the need for hydrogen infrastructure. It’s modular, zero-emission, and cost-competitive with diesel—ideal for off-grid industrial use where batteries and hydrogen logistics fall short.

Why it’s time to expand in the US:

The US offers strong demand for clean off-grid power. Our Detroit pilot with Toyota Mobility Foundation shows how APG replaces diesel in real-world settings. With policy support and industrial partners, it’s the ideal market to scale zero-emission energy.

🧪 Plastogaz - Sustainable Chemical Recycling

Plastogaz’s catalytic hydrocracking technology transforms post-consumer plastic waste, such as flexible films considered hard-to-recycle streams, into valuable circular hydrocarbons (LPG, naphtha (C6–C12) and more products) with high yield and low greenhouse gas emissions. These hydrocarbons are on-spec for steam cracking, in contrast to pyrolysis oils, which require additional and costly upgrading steps.

Why they’re heading to the US:

In 2018, 8.7 % of plastics were recycled in the U.S., while the majority ends up in landfills or incinerated.Current recycling of plastic in the US is limited to mechanical means which can lead to downcycling of the plastic waste into lower value products. Yet, there is a growing policy momentum and agreements in plastic pollution in the US. Plastogaz hydrocracking technology represents a timely and strategic step toward closing this gap.

🌬️ Sixteen44 - Transforming Methane into Opportunity

Sixteen44 tackles one of the most powerful levers in climate action: methane removal.

Their scalable systems don’t just capture methane from the air, they transform it into valuable products, turning a dangerous super-pollutant into new revenue streams for industry. It’s climate impact and commercial opportunity in the same technology.

Cutting methane is the fastest way to slow global warming and avoid catastrophic tipping points. By helping eliminate waste methane from the air and convert it into useful materials, Sixteen44 is accelerating progress toward net-zero while unlocking circular-economy value that didn’t exist before.

🛤️ Swisspod - World's Largest Hyperloop Infrastructure

Swisspod’s mission to ensure high-speed transportation is sustainable and efficient using fully-electric Hyperloop pods, a breakthrough technology that allows for the scalable and fast travel between distant cities.

They are currently safely building affordable and energy-efficient pods, and bringing together a strong team of multidisciplinary experts passionate about disrupting high-speed travel. Swisspod is an EPFL spinoff founded in 2019 by Hyperloop veterans and multiple award winners of the SpaceX Hyperloop Competition.
