👩🔬 45 Women Entrepreneur Scientists
PLUS: A list of 750+ Women in Climate ahead of International Women's Day

Entrepreneurial scientists are transforming their PhD research into ClimateTech innovations, leveraging deep scientific expertise to drive real-world impact.
And an increasing number of women in the field are becoming Founders, CEOs, CSOs, and leading scientific teams to drive innovation forward and secure investment.
Take for instance:
Dr Monika Tomecka CEO of biotech firm uFraction8 who last week raised £3.4 million to commercialise their microfiltration technology, designed to optimise cell and biomass production.
Dr Beth Shapiro, Chief Science Officer at biosciences startup Colossal Biosciences recently secured $200 million Series C to advance their CRISPR-driven de-extinction projects to resurrect the woolly mammoth, Tasmanian tiger, and dodo.
Dr Julia Bauer, CTO at sustainable aviation fuel startup Spark E-Fuels announced €2.3 million in a pre-seed funding round just last month to build their pilot plant and accelerate the commercialisation of its CO2-to-SAF technology.
Dr Liz Dennet, Founder and CEO at Endolith, spun the startup out of biotech giant Cemvita to revolutionise sustainable mining practices raising an oversubscribed $5.13 million round, and joins us at the HackSummit to share her inspiring journey.
Yet still, the funding gap remains a significant barrier, making it more challenging for women-led startups to get their idea off the ground, and then scale up.
Despite these hurdles, we’ve tracked 45 women who are proving that groundbreaking science and entrepreneurial vision can reshape industries, drive sustainability, and accelerate the transition to a cleaner future.
In this week’s edition, we cover:
🔬 45 Women Turning PhDs into Impact
According to the UNESCO Institute of Statistics, less than 30% of the world’s researchers are women - a gap that creates dangerous blind spots in climate research and innovation.
But across all areas of ClimateTech, women are turning scientific breakthroughs into real-world solutions, in carbon capture and utilisation, renewable energy, biomining, synthetic biology, agrifood, green chemistry, and bio-manufacturing.
Ahead of International Women’s Day, we highlight 45 women pioneering scalable ClimateTech, who are transforming PhD research into businesses that drive impact from Endolith, SimplexDNA, Level 9, Nitrofix, Tandem Repeat, Cemvita, LanzaTech, Twelve, Shiru, Neo-Fossil, rrreefs and many more…
👩🏻🤝👩🏾 750+ Women in Climate to Know
Over the last 3 years this list has steadily grown to become a go-to guide of key women in ClimateTech to know.
Covering Founders, Investors, Operators and Industry Insiders this list takes you on an around-the-world tour of what women in Climate Tech are working on.
We’re also optimistic that there are many more women working in, investing in and supporting the ecosystem that we haven’t met yet. If there’s someone we’ve missed you can quickly add them in here.
