That’s why proteins (and enzymes - a specific type of protein) can be used to manufacture so many things, across food, textiles, surfactants, fuels and cosmetics.

Yet the materials that we’ve come to rely on are driving us towards ecological crisis. To create new, sustainable products we need new, sustainable materials.

Engineered and novel proteins can help get us there - the faster, the better. 

And so to understand the Protein Deep Tech landscape, we counted over 220 startups in the space, and caught up with 15 frontrunners to get the inside track on scaling Protein Deep Tech.

What began as a quick call out, this post quickly spiralled into a goldmine of rising stars and moonshots pioneering the future of protein.
